My son loved it
Staff repeatedly suspended my child and told me we would have a meeting together to plan something consistent but instead that never happened and I had to handle it on my own. I reminded them constantly. They never made the time. They would never reach out before suspending him. I would just pick him up when it was already too late.

Yes
My son is on the older side of campers I think, but still very much enjoyed the camp this year. The counselors were very kind and friendly. They get 10/10.
Great staff
We did not have that positive of an experience, but another parent reported to me that her daughter was expelled for having an emotional outburst (she has ADHD). I will be unlikely to send my autistic daughter or her sister to YMCA next year. It will have to be a last resort.

I was very disappointed with my interactions with the program coordinator\. On the two or three occasions when I needed to speak with her directly, I found her responses, tone, and body language to be dismissive and condescending\. I was left feeling as though my concerns regarding my child were an annoyance or nuisance to her rather than something worthy of attention\.
I want to emphasize that all of the other staff members I interacted with were friendly, attentive, and helpful, and I truly appreciated their positive attitudes\.
Unfortunately, my experiences with the program coordinator significantly affected my overall impression of the camp\. Considering that the program costs approximately $400, I expected a much higher level of professionalism and respectful communication, especially when a parent is raising concerns about their child\.
Because of this experience, I will not be signing my child up for this summer camp again in the future\.
The weekly rate with no lunch provided I think needs to change
Because they unfairly kicked my son out after two weeks. My son was treated like an outsider often came home saying he felt ignored by staff. And after two incidences was expelled from the camp. I tried to talk to the director but did not get a call back.
I liked the new location with air conditioning for the kids. I also felt like this year that had more activities to do and were more concentrated on the camp theme!
We love Y Camp and the variety of activities they provide. The staff is so warm and welcoming and kept me up to date without inundating me with information. My child made new friends, brought home projects she was proud of, and learned to do new things as a result of her time at Y Camp.
There was no set directions or activity for his age group.
Staff is excellent and very responsive.
Horrible experience, and in fact I will be vocal about telling people to NOT enroll there.
My daughter loved Y-Camp. The only problems I had was the lack of communication throughout the whole process of getting her signed up and throughout the summer for any changes happening. And also the fact that lunch was no longer provided at all about halfway through summer (which was not communicated to me, I had to find out from my daughter and then verify with one of the staff members).
I love that Ycare is an option!! Definitely appreciate it!! Such an amazing program!!
The staff was friendly, attentive, seemed really take their job seriously, reported issues and concerns clearly. We really appreciate that the staff could articulate well what occurred or what our child did or needed support with (behavior). The staff were involved and genuinely caring. Our schools used boys and girls club during the school year (the staff, communication, expectation, etc is mediocre compared to our experience this summer).
We were very impressed with Ycare systems, rotations, themes, and expectations/accountability of the students. We really liked that you broke them up into age groups and had age appropriate activities.
My children have attended Y-Care after school and the 2026 summer camp sessions. They both expressed that they prefer the after school Y-Care. I believe that preference is in large part due to the staff who work the after school Y-Care program. Miss Heidi, Mahalia, Stephanie, and Peter have been consistent friendly, helpful, and positive role models for my kids throughout the previous school year and I’m not sure they ever got to feel as comfortable with the summer camp seasonal hires. We have had kids go through multiple daycares and daycare environments and this team of individuals that I mentioned earlier is one your program should be proud of and should work hard to keep. I really can’t say enough about Heidi, Mahalia, Stephanie, and Peter which resulted in me going off on a tangent, but they deserve the recognition and praise.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Y care and camp! Leslie, Naleia clay and others have always been so amazing to my daughter.
There was an issue. I did hear from the director, but never a second response or what if any training would change. I was blamed for a problem that significantly disrupted my child's eating. Now my husband is purchasing pizza every week to put in my child's lunch due to staff comment. This is not affordable or a sustainable solution to someone with minimal nutrition background "being concerned" about a lunch. I have to say Mind Your Own Business. My child should not have her lunch searched through and then commented on like she is in some kind of prison. I am not likely to send my child back unless it is our only option. Also this camp does not take kids off campus for outings.
This was our 2nd year with YMCA Summer Camp for my 7 year old son. After only being at camp for 4 days, we we had already received multiple phone calls and texts which resulted in a meeting by the end of the first week of camp. Our son has ADHD and it became very apparent that the YMCA camp staff is not equipped to accommodate those with neurogiverencies.
2 of the 3 counselors were great.
The staff were attentive to my kids’ needs and provided great communication to me about any important updates. They loved all the games and crafts, plus D&D club was their favorite.
I had called in to childcare to see if they could put our account on hold for 1 week until we could get my child's father death certificate as we were on state pay with a copay before his passing and needed to update with the state but they were asking for his death certificate, that had not been issued yet. I was told by the ladies at the camp not to worry that the lady in the office was just out on leave and that they would be able to work everything out. I got a call a week later and she unenrolled my son the rest of the summer, when i just needed the account on hold for a few days. very frustrating.
Working around closure days when theres no school can be a struggle. Getting calls to pick up child when there is the possibility of a storm and your closing is also a struggle. Since this is a daycare for working parents more thought should go into when you are closed. Some parents dont have the flexibility to to leave early or miss work entirely. Its convenient and cost is reasonable which is why I would recommend to other parents.
Staff were very attentive and fun.
All the kids enjoyed going each day
My entire experience was pretty mixed, my child had behavioral problems and faced disciplinary actions from behaviors that warranted the response. But on the flip side there were times when suspension was being laid out for simply screaming like children do. The upper management was quite friendly, helpful, and understanding when I dealt with them directly, and I never had any issues with the staff besides what I felt was disproportionate responses to challenging behaviors
My kiddo loves going to Y-camp and asked regularly to be signed up.
It feels secure and safe but is still casual and fun. I appreciate having multiple folks to contact and they're always responsive.

She had a great time!
The staff was very helpful and very kind.
The coach assigned to Everett's team was not capable of teaching basketball, or even letting them play basketball at practice. No skills development was attempted... Everett decided to leave the team after a few weeks - we let the coach know why. I think it would have been difficult for YMCA staff to predict the outcome in accepting this coach. Nonetheless, Everett loves basketball and all team sports. He will continue with YMCA basketball in the spring season.
Our coaches were great and communicative. They were patient and able to keep my daughter engaged in learning the sport and playing together in a team
First team experience for my child and it went pretty well. They want to sign up again.
The referees didn’t call out players who were being over-aggressive. A few times opponents were guarding my son by literally wrapping their arms around him in a hug restraint. The refs saw this and did nothing, nor did the coaches of the opposing team.
The matches were well organized, my son gained skills and had fun. My one complaint is the practice times. 7:00-8:00 pm is difficult for kids who often go to bed by 8:00. If practices could be earlier, that would work better for kids.
The frequency of the practices and games is just right. The environment is encouraging.
Just wish the teams here Nicer and friendlier.
Basketball rules were not enforced at all games. They need to be more enforced as kids get older they need to know the rules.
We have been generally happy with the program in terms of ease of use and good communication, as well as overall friendliness of the kids and parents. The downside is that the coaches don’t actually have to have skill in the sport they are coaching. So there is a disparity of what skills the kids come away with depending on what team they are placed with.
Good coaching and strong development of skills and sportsmanship.
Love the program. It did at times feel like there were teams who were being favored by staff
I purchased basketball for my son. I asked for a change in coach. Called and left 3 messages. No one returned my call. My son did not play due to this. My son was placed on a team where a child was added the last week and that child physically assaulted mine and sent my son to the hospital. I did not find this a safe team for us to be on due to the conflict. The bare minimum that the ymca could have done was call. I will not recommend the y due to this. We used the YMCA for 3 years before this.
With not having real refs at a higher age level has been awful. The "refs" only call some things on teams and everything on another team and the kids arnt learning. Hire real refs again.
My child had a great experience playing Y basketball - I'm sure he'll play again in the future!
Coach Rick was great with the kids!
