Caring and experienced coaches, good communication to families, good number of practices per week, racing opportunities up to national level
The biggest issue with this camp is the lack of proper shade for kids when they are outside.
Since, kids remain outside throughout the day they should have temoporary tent set up for kids.
Also, they should have new games and activities every year otherwise it becomes boring for returning campers.
My 3 kids loved attending so much they begged for extra weeks for next year. I love that they were outside so much.
Expensive
The youngest kids practices should be focused on fixing and teaching the correct technique instead of making them swimming laps with fins on for most of the entire practice.
They should be able to teach every stroke not mostly freestyle. They should use drills to improve each swimming style.
I have seen the practices focused only on endurance with fins on mostly all the times, and they only swim freestyle.
What about the technique?
The young team needs to focus on technique using drills, not just swim freestyle nonstop so the coaches could enjoy a nice chat with each other.
I wish they could improve on the 7-8 swim group.
Overall it’s a great program, certain things could be a little different as with all programs but it’s an incredible group of talented coaches and kids and we have already referred new teammates. We are constantly complemented by other USA swimming programs how well our athletes are doing once joining gscy.
The pool is kept very clean. The staff and members are like family. Everyone looks out for each other!
The teacher for preschool 2 and preschool 3 did not teach the children anything, she just let them splash around in the water everyday.
For a lap swimmer, the Bridgewater YMCA is unmatched. Wonderful for the many seniors who support the Y so they can improve their lives through swimming - - the perfect fitness exercise.
communication is so bad, changes in schedule like maintenance short notice
I like the 25 METER pool. I DO NOT think the pool should be changed to 25 yards. Poor move.
womens locker room!!!
YMCA should have make up sessions for thunder because we paying
since 1980. I consider my 5-day week swimming as a principal factor in my good health condition at the age of 97. Thanks to the great staff including lifeguards I’ll continue to work out for as long as I can.
I swim a lot at Bridgewater YMCA, showers and locker rooms need repair and face lift. I cannot speak on the womens locker area.
Staff is friendly and the pool schedule has been fairly accurate over the summer. One thing needs to be addressed. Especially with campers and swim team at the pool, the changing room and shower stalls need to be cleaned. The walls in the shower stalls are pretty gross and the shower curtains are in disrepair. Other than that I'm very pleased with the Bridgewater Y.
the water is a tad chilly for me; but I know others like it cold. Some guards are helpful and friendly; others not so much. The sauna is kind of dirty; there is always some kind of gritty material on the benches. All in all, I'm grateful to have somewhere to swim, as Hillsborough does not offer much swim time to adults in the summer.
Your website says the locker room is closed 11:45 to noon when in fact it was closed till 3 pm. When finished swimming the other day I had to leave dripping wet
My daughter loves the camp at the Y! They are active all day, have fun, swim daily too and the field trips are fun, different and educational. The perfect summer experience
The staff was very helpful and the facility was well maintained.
Love the pool with so many lanes! And the speed dryer for swimsuits - so much better than the one at the Somerset Hills Y.
Very informative it is going to help kids and adults to get ready for lifeguard job
Famosas tic facilities
My son enjoys his time there. He has asked to stay later. Hanging with friends and trips!
Even on the hottest days, the counselors were ready with appropriate activities for the campers.
This was my first time having my 8yr old son attend the YMCA. He had such a blast he can’t wait to continue to attend summer camp at the YMCA!
Great pool!
the pool is basically closed to members in the mornings from Sept to the end of June due to swim team practice. I would like to be able to swim early morning during the year besides July and August
Lack of available open swim hours. PS. I know that you can see who submits this.
I valued the importance of reviewing each swimmer’s abilities and potential so they can identify areas for improvement, learn from the process, and continue developing into stronger and better athletes as part of this swim team
Everyone was super responsive and helpful with any question i had
Friendly staff and facilities are clean and neat. Men’s locker room needs some upgrades. Water faucets need replacing in shower area and the scale needs to be replaced. Facility is managed well but just needs minor upgrades.
You keep sending this to the wrong email, despite my attempts to let you know. MB in Florida.
While the pool is amazing, the locker room could really use an update and a cleaning (the towel dryer smells moldy). And the hours are extremely unfriendly to anyone who works during the day or isn't a swim team member
The swimming pool is great, however the hot water supply to shower is very unstable and very unpleasant.
I like the intensity of the training and I’m impressed by the amount of instructions given by the coach during the practice. The athletes also seem to be of high quality. I wish the team only practices at Somerset Hills YMCA. The rest of the sites are a bit spread out.
replace the broken fan in the women's locker room. It has not worked in couple of years. Really needed on hot summer days.
The pool is great I always get my own lane and it is clean
Swim coaches need to improve. A particular coach gets frustrated too quickly with students and instead of motivating them, they feel discouraged and afraid of being targeted in the group. There is a way to teach skill without being rude.
Love the masters swim at the bridgewater pool.
Great archery instructors
Bridgewater Y is a great place to swim. The staff and members are friendly and caring.
Item was stolen from locker room and site director did nothing to address it. Poor communication, poor course of action. Really disappointed.
I find the water too cold, and the locker room old and not equiped for handicapped women. I only go to the Bridgewater pool when the aquatics classes are moved there from the Somerville pool
The whole building needs updating. The outside needs a good power wash and stain job. It is an embarrassment.
The pool temperature is way too cold, the locker rooms need updating, and there are no available rooms for land classes.
Given the lack of regard for our senior aquatics classes' members for over a year now, I would classify myself as a hypocrite to even invite someone to classes or even attempt to describe the obstacles we physically faced upon entering the building.
-the unsafe staircase
-the darkness of the approach
-the noise of jackhammers, various electric tools
-the dust and particles of the ceiling falling into the the pool
-the decisions by someone to arbitrarily assign our only choice to go to Bridgewater whenever plans for construction topped our needs all this while raising our membership fee
-the lack of communication regarding changes or messages
Positives:
Catherine O'Hara, our instructor
Ruth, always welcoming us with a warm smile and accurate information
the friends we have added over all the years, to laugh with each other, to support each other when someone needs it, to share recipes
Great facilities and ataff
always greeted with a good morning and a friendly smile.......
The Y has always been a friendly place
